About Michelle McGeehan

I am a recent science graduate, having graduated from Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) with a first class honours in B. Sc (hons) in Bioanalytical Science. During my studies, I have gained laboratory experience in areas such as Microbiology, Immunology, DNA Technology, Analytical Science, Cell Culture and Clean Room Technology. In conjunction with laboratory experience in these areas, I also have knowledge regarding Quality control and the manufacturing of pharmacutical products. As part of my honours degree I also completed a microbiology based thesis examining the optimisation of Staphylocococcus aureus Biofilms and the natural antimicrobial properties of various honeys from Co. Donegal and other medical grade honeys on S.aureus, an important area of research since since many bacteria are now become resistant to common antibiotics currently prescribed. I have also completed a vast amount of research regarding Helicobacter pylori, however due to time constraints experiments involving this microbe could not be be conducted. I am highly motivated, focused and determined scientist with excellent verbal and written communication skills and I am confident in working as part of team or individually.
