About Michelle Memme

How it started: I knew what I loved, and what I loved was helping others achieve their goals. From being part of a property management team of all females, scaling a 10 building portfolio to a 60+ building portfolio - to teaching elementary education to the future leaders of our world - to now being part of a company whose mission is to deliver a post-secondary learning experience that is both meaningful and memorable. I have always thrived when I am able to be part of new challenges as well as being part of a mission that makes me want to get up in the morning. How it's going: Yes, I jumped ship from the public sector of education to a tech-start up. However, the goal and the passion has always remained the same. Our clients at Top Hat are educators who need help - help reimagining and designing their courses using dynamic courseware that is not stale and outdated. I help instructors align their pedagogy to a course that is reflective of their student body. With the ability to actually edit a textbook to reflect the diverse population of the area you are teaching in, to being able to add in your own thoughts and material into an existing digital text, that's where the magic happens. Students see themselves represented, and that changes their whole perspective on learning and education entirely, as we all know that this hasn't always been the case. Students that are engaged are students who do well academically, and are able to then push through barriers and create a life they have dreamed of. Our future depends on the educational experience we provide these students, and that all starts with Instructional Design at Top Hat.
