About Michelle Nelson

I have worked in tourism, oil & gas, TV & Film, rodeo and agriculture. In every facet of my life I have planned events and worked with people. Starting at the launch of a Parks Canada site in the foothills of Alberta, where I worked with the original staff, historians and archeologists to develop, produce and present public programs for Bar U Ranch National Historic Site. Later took on a Public Programming Manager position, leading a team of 12-15 employees. Married to a rancher in the foothills of Alberta I have been very adaptable to my situation just as everyone who is in agriculture has to be. When I was raising a family I worked within local school, athletic, 4-H and rodeo communities and boards, taking on chair and directorships. Continually, I head up the business and bookkeeping side of the ranch on a day to day basis. As the family grew up and showed big interest in rodeo, I started with Alpha Bull (a bull riding/rodeo event production company) and have assisted in the production of over a dozen bull riding/fighting and rodeo events. These events range in size from 300 to people. As the Alpha Bull position was part time I moved into the Film Industry where as a Teamster I have been a driver for the past 7 years with over a couple dozen film and TV productions. I have drove cast, crew, producers and hauled 10' to 40' trailers. I have taken on more leadership rolls as Captain and co-Captain on a couple productions which develop my organizational skills. While being a captain I work with all other departments on a production to develop budgets and a team of transport that will contribute to the overall movement of the whole production. Throughout my life there have been many ebbs and flows that have moved me around but the common flow of my careers has been planning, organizing and working with people.
