About Michelle Painter

I have my sped k-12 general education license, PreK-6 elementary education license, and an autism certificate. I also have completed many trainings and certificates such as MANDT, LETERS, TTAC, and IMSE. I have been working for three years as a special education 3rd/4th-grade teacher in a rural county. Each year I have taught has been something new and has helped me to become a more well rounded special education teacher. My strengths are in multi-sensory phonics instruction and currently, I am the math sped lead teacher for my school. During the summers I teach at a private school known for teaching students with learning differences as a reading teacher to the youngest students. I would love to continue working in a public elementary school, teaching students who have disabilities in either an inclusion or self-contained classroom setting. I have always aspired to be a teacher and began volunteer and teaching opportunities when I was 12 years old. My background is multi-faceted: UVA Hospital Education Program, Haiti and Oakland School, teacher cadet in high school, and practicum placements in many counties during college, I have had many teaching experiences that set me apart from my peers.
