About Michelle Powell

I have over 20 years of nursing experience, primarily in the hospital setting. I began my career in Med/Surg, then transferred to ICU. I spend several years in critical care and build a strong foundation and self confidence. I joined a float pool for the flexibility and discovered that I enjoyed working in different settings, with different people, learning different things. After many years of critical care, with a little surgical services tossed in, I decided to transfer to PACU. I have worked primarily in periop for the past 7+ years. After a couple of years of travel nursing I decided to try education and accepted a position as a patient/clinical educator at a small community hospital. I enjoyed the new challenges of teaching but decided for financial reasons that the position was not a good fit for me. I returned to travel nursing and discovered EMR conversions. This has been a great fit; I get to travel, learn new things, and participate in initiation of electronic record system. I have met many "IT" people/nurses along the way and decided that I would really like to pursue a position that involves nurse informatics. I am interested in contracting for conversions or possibly joining a facility that will provide Epic certification as part of their training.
