Background

About Michelle Schmeltz

I am a passionate special educator that believes in empowering young people with diverse abilities to meet their potential and successfully transition to life after high school. My previous places of employment have provided me with many opportunities to educate using evidence-based practices and develop new ways to ensure my students’ development and growth. Through presenting in district wide educational staff development and leadership opportunities on campus, I’ve equipped colleagues with skills to better serve our diverse population. Outside of the classroom I actively sought out ways to further develop myself professionally. In 2018 I was award the Fund for Teachers Fellowship, designing my own staff development in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, I've had the opportunity to spend significant time volunteering in an organization assisting children with disabilities in Hanoi, Vietnam. I enjoy traveling, running and volunteering for local non-profit organizations. I seek opportunities to give back to my community through leadership roles and actively participating in local events.
