About Michelle Suttmeier

As a former teacher and current administrator, I am passionate about students receiving an equitable, world class education in order to develop into productive and insightful members of society. As a champion for continuous improvement, I consider myself a life-long learner along side the students, teachers, and communities I serve. I am currently a Principal for Chicago Public Schools. I made the transition to this role from the Resident Principal, Assistant Principal, and prior to that, the STEM Project Manager role where I successfully prepared students to thrive in college by introducing them to Early College coursework and college experiences throughout HS. I received my Bachelor’s degree in English from the University at Albany in upstate New York where I went on to attain my Master’s of Science in Urban Secondary Education before moving to Chicago. As Principal, I am responsible for the management, administration, and execution of key elements including but not limited to: student academics and activities, school management, community relations, personnel, curriculum & instruction, etc. to ensure the success of staff and students school-wide.
