About Michelle Sweeney

Graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. I was a medical social worker at Mary Greeley Medical Center for 12 years. I covered the medical telemetry unit, ICU, and on-call for the emergency room. I have always had a passion for hospice and end-of-life care. It is very rewarding to be a support system for patients and families during their end of life journey. My passion grew even stronger when I lost my best friend at the young age of 40, leaving behind two young girls. She was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, towards the end of her cancer journey she was placed on home hospice. Her home hospice services were very subpar. A social worker never even came out to visit with her 11 and 4 year old girls. I became that support system for all of them and since her death it is my mission to make sure people know that there are differences in hospice agencies. I was blessed to end up at the best Hopsice agency, Suncrest. I started my career as a Hospice Liaison with Suncrest in 2019 and have loved every minute of it. Suncrest’s care and employees are the best of the best! We provide more visits than any Hospice agency in the metro! My family was blessed with their care for my Dad in August 2022. He was able to remain at home, his bed facing the window looking out at his farm, surrounded by family and friends. I don’t have the words to accurately describe just how amazing his care and the support we received were. I only wish my best friend could have experienced this amazing end of life care. She pushes me everyday to spread the word about hospice, end of life care, and why Suncrest is the best of the best! I have a servants heart, I love helping people! I’m also a real estate agent on the side! My husband is a contractor so the real estate world has always intrigued me! I obtained my license in 2019 and landed with an amazing brokerage, United Real Estate! I love helping people find their home sweet home. Lastly, I have a strong passion for mental health awareness! My son lost his best friend to suicide at the young age of 14. His mother started a non profit called The Redshirt Foundation! Sarah has done amazing things bringing awareness, breaking the stigma, and helping our school district support our youth! My servants heart is definitely being fulfilled! Our time on earth is short, always be the best person you can be. The end of life deserves as much care and dignity as the beginning of life.
