About Michelle Thomas

I began my HR career working as a Personal Assistant to an HR Manager in 1989. During this time I showed my ability and enthusiasm to communicate professionally at all levels; work independently and as a team player; multitask whilst under pressure and be successful with meeting deadlines. Upon completion of the CPP, I was promoted to Assistant HR Officer where my responsibilities became more challenging. For the past 12 years I have continued to use my HR skills whilst working as a Teaching Assistant in a school with a Chair of Governors, Head teacher, Deputy Heads, Senior Management, Middle Management and Teaching staff. Like any business I have had to communicate with all members of the hierarchy on a daily basis. This includes a variety daily concerns. I am teaching classes (all subjects) at the last minute; motivating pupils and on some occasions staff members; planning and preparing lessons; independent teaching of 30+ pupils; assessing pupils; writing of SEN Support Plans; minute taking in weekly meetings and setting up a new Learning Zone with various areas of development. My responsibilities over the years have included the necessity to communicate with the parents of pupils on countless matters concerning their behaviour and education and with external Special Educational Needs specialists. I am currently studying for the CIPD Intermediate Level 5 to refresh and update my previous HR knowledge and experience. I am now investing personal finance and time to ensure my return to work in an HR environment is successful. As an employee I am a hardworking, dedicated, trustworthy and highly conscientious member of staff which is reflected in any work that I do. I am computer literate, and have used various Computer systems to enrich the management of teaching and learning of Special Educational needs in a primary school. However, in my present employment it has not been necessary to keep my Excel and Power point skills updated.
