About Michelle Vidal

Hi! I am a Master’s student in Intelligence & International Security at King’s College London, with a strong focus defence and security policy, OSINT and the role of dual-use technologies in modern conflict. Through both academic work and practical experience, I’ve built a solid foundation in European defence strategy, monitoring emerging security threats and the use of open-source methods to analyse them. Now, about to graduate, I am keen to apply this knowledge in a role that contributes to strengthening Europe’s security and technological sovereignty. Throughout my studies, I have focused extensively on the Middle East by examining how the region’s complex political and security dynamics intersect with European foreign and defence policy. This focus has allowed me to apply analytical and research skills to ongoing conflicts and geopolitical risk scenarios. My understanding of the region deepened further through Arabic studies since September 2024 and a recent two-months long research stay in Cairo. I’m particularly committed to understanding the region on its own terms and exploring pragmatic, context-specific approaches to security and conflict resolution. Beyond my studies, I have engaged in cyber capture-the-flag events, open-source investigations and geopolitical risk analyses, refining my ability to assess emerging threats, security vulnerabilities, and strategic risks. I thrive in fast-paced environments that require critical thinking, adaptability and cross-cultural awareness. I am actively seeking opportunities in geopolitical analysis, policy and defence.
