About Michelle Walker
I’m a Visual Artist with an art/nature/science background, interested in the bonds that unite us with our landscapes. My art is a visceral response to Australia’s terrain, driven by 25+ years of environmental planning experience. I use the memories of place and the essence of my materials to make potent 2D and 3D artworks. Over the years since graduating with a BFA from QCA majoring in sculpture in 2008, I’ve consistently shown in group and joint exhibitions. In 2020, I moved to fulltime in my art practice, have held two solo shows in Brisbane and in 2023, a collaborative project, Ash, Mud & Tears at NRCG, Ballina. The dramatic profile of Wollumbin (Mt Warning) and the landscape of the Tweed Caldera in northern New South Wales where I live and create on Bundjalung Country has a strong influence on my artwork.
