About Mickey Lawless

I am a versatile analyst with over two years of experience in Agile methodologies and various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, including quality assurance, business analysis, and production support. I recently joined Basys as a Quality Assurance Tester, where I support end-to-end testing of their payment gateway and processing platform, specifically focusing on testing the integration between physical terminal devices and Basys' gateway applications. I am the primary QA responsible for the Physical Terminal project, creating and executing manual test scenarios, validating RESTful APIs using Postman, and conducting backend testing through database queries to verify logs, troubleshoot defects, and perform root cause analysis. In my first month at Basys, I've tested and moved numerous features through multiple environments, ran a full regression in preparation for a successful production release, and helped coordinate a hotfix deployment for a high-priority client issue. I’ve also contributed to improving test coverage by reviewing and expanding the Physical Terminal regression suite, and by increasing and standardizing our test documentation efforts. I’m passionate about quality and have already begun upskilling in test automation with the support of Basys. Before joining Basys, I worked for two years as a Quality Assurance Tester at PwC as a contractor for Insight Global. There, I designed and executed 100+ test cases per sprint using tools like Postman, Swagger, MySQL, and MongoDB. I identified and analyzed defects across multiple integrated applications and over 10 test environments. I also created test data and led bi-weekly demonstrations of newly implemented features for product owners and internal teams. I graduated in August 2022 from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics and Information Systems, earning a 4.0 GPA. During the summer of 2021, I interned at Karran USA, working under the CEO and COO to perform sales trend analysis across 500+ products. After graduation, I completed a six-week training program in production support through Wiley Edge, where I built foundational technical skills including SQL, Linux, Python, and Microsoft Excel.
