About Mieke Ryan

I co-founded Origins Foster Care, an Independent Trauma Informed Fostering Agency, in 2018 and have been managing the agency along with co-founder Eugene Bigley since that time. I moved into the role of CEO of Origins Foster Care in March 2025. I have been working as an Independent Social Worker and a Guardian ad Litem since September 2013, appointed to cases nationwide in both District and High Courts. Prior to this I gained a total of 10 years’ experience working in the field of Child Welfare and Protection within the HSE (now Tusla). I worked as a Social Work Team Leader for the HSE both in Dublin South City and Dublin North West, on the Duty and Children in Care Teams. I have significant experience in assessing risk and the care and therapeutic needs of children both living with their parents and in the care of Tusla. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Trinity College Dublin and the National Qualification in Social Work. I have a Master’s Degree in Child Art Psychotherapy from UCD. I have completed Level 1 and 2 training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Level 1 training in Theraplay. I have significant additional experience and training in the areas of attachment and I have a Specialist Diploma in developmental trauma.
