About Mifrah Abid

I am a passionate anti-racism, anti-Islamophobia, equity, and social justice advocate - grounded in real experiences, and a refusal to settle for surface-level, performative change. Through writing, teaching, and storytelling, I create spaces where diverse voices don’t just show up authentically- they lead. I bring creativity and pop culture into the mix to unpack social dynamics and make tough conversations relatable. While I’m committed to justice, I believe in second chances and growth - that mistakes happen, and when you know better, you do better. My work comes from a place of grace, and a belief in accountability- not judgement. My goal is simple: build communities and systems that serve everyone’s lived experience with respect and lasting impact. Currently working as University of Waterloo's Anti-Racism Specialist. I also hosted and co-produced my podcast 'Across Her Table' to tell the remarkable stories of Canadian women with immigrant roots. I am also a teacher. I was an English lecturer (Language, Literature, and Applied Linguistics) for over 6 years. I am a TESL Ontario certified ESL trainer. I taught at Conestoga College at the School of Community Services and School of Interdiscinplinary Studies.
