About Miguel Vasquez

I am an Attorney-at-law and Partner at the law firm, M. Hamel-Smith & Co. I have been in practice for almost nine (9) years, and have built a distinguished practice in corporate commercial litigation and dispute resolution, tax litigation and appeals, tax and legal planning, and the establishment of operations in Trinidad and Tobago. I hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of the West Indies (2014), a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from the Hugh Wooding Law School (2016), and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Tax Law from King’s College London (2022). I am admitted to practise law in both Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados. In addition to my legal practice, I am an Author and Correspondent for IBFD, one of the world’s pre-eminent and independent providers of cross-border tax expertise, a member of the Legislative Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association, and a member of the Rule of Law Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce of T&T. I also tutor at the Law Faculty of the University of the West Indies, and have authored numerous publications on corporate law and tax. I have also participated in several live televised discussions since 2023, including providing expert analysis on Trinidad and Tobago’s national budget for fiscal year 2024.
