Background

About Mikael Langner

Leading a team of professionals who work to reduce the negative impacts of drug use and stigma, I am the CEO of California Coalition for Harm Reduction (CCHR). We provide education, advocacy, and support services to people who use drugs, their families, and their allies, as well as to policymakers, health care providers, and other stakeholders. We aim to promote health equity, human rights, and social justice for marginalized communities. My strong background in public health and medicine, with a Master's degree from Des Moines University and a Doctorate from Ross University School of Medicine, enables me to understand the complex and interrelated factors that affect the health and well-being of people who use drugs. I also have a passion for communication and education, with degrees in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from UC Davis and San Jose State University. I have delivered multiple presentations and workshops on harm reduction, drug policy, and health equity, reaching audiences of up to 100 people. I am also an aspiring public speaker and hold a certified Public Leadership Credential holder from Harvard Kennedy School. My goal is to inspire and empower others to create positive change in their lives and communities.
