There is a shift in the business world from a “maximize shareholder value” paradigm to a more evolved “purpose and stakeholder” paradigm; one that views the role of business as serving a higher purpose and making a positive impact across its entire ecosystem. This orientation looks beyond the short term and bottom line to how people and the environment are effected over time. And as it turns out, this is just a better way to do business, financially and otherwise. Implementing and adopting the principles (e.g. interdependence), practices (e.g. stakeholder integration) and forms (e.g. Benefit Corporation) associated with Conscious Business requires a different mindset first and foremost. Becoming and being a Conscious Business is a continuous, ever-evolving inside-out process. I am a catalyst, facilitator and guide to executives experiencing and integrating an expanded, elevated consciousness to the practice of business. I couple 30+ years of inner work with 30+ years of experience in the business world to support people and companies in making breakthroughs in operating more consciously in their work and applying conscious approaches. I draw from my own successes and failures in the trenches, particularly in the domains of strategy, marketing, business development and sales. I also support companies in becoming Certified B Corporations and public benefit corporations. While the prevailing business (capitalist) mentality and corporate legal structure is inherently flawed, several movements are exemplifying a new paradigm approach. Examples include: Sustainable Business, Conscious Capitalism, Certified B Corporations and Benefit Corporations. I group all these together as Conscious Business. I strongly believe Conscious Business is the way of the future and will supplant traditional business much like the electric car is now displacing internal combustion powered automobiles.
