About Mike Beck

Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, Mike and his family moved to New Mexico in 1959. Although technically not a native New Mexican, he considers he has seen enough of the state and lived here long enough to have earned "Honorary Native" status. Following graduation from Farmington High School, Mike attended New Mexico State University, studying Civil Engineering. His career in highway construction began with a Co-Op assignment with the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department in 1977, and over the years has worked for some of the largest highway contractors/subcontractors in New Mexico. In October, 2011, Mike was contacted by Associated Contractors of New Mexico (ACNM) with an opportunity to serve as the organizations Executive Director, which he was honored to accept. ACNM is the statewide chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America representing the Heavy/Highway/Utility construction industry in New Mexico. As Executive Director, Mike reports to a 10 member Board of Directors, represents over 150 member firms, and is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Association. He proudly leads a team of 4 highly dedicated individuals whose goal is to provide the highest quality of service to our membership, and to advocate for the construction community throughout New Mexico. Mike and his wife Julie continue to make their home in Albuquerque. Their 3 children, Allyson, Kyle, and Ryan, have all moved on to begin successful careers of their own. Mike enjoys golf (when he has time), skiing (when there is snow), travelling with Julie (when they can get away), and relaxing at home (when-ever).
