About Mike Caithness

How does one summarize one’s self for a forum such as this? Well, let’s see… I’m a long (long!) time software developer… but still enjoy the challenges it brings. Despite sticking with (essentially) one company for these many years, I think I’ve still had a broad range of project experiences and interactions. I’ve been on both sides of the design/product verification “coin” – and certainly like to think I’ve been successful with each and every task I’ve taken… or had thrown my way. What’s my ideal role? Give me a design project and let me at it. I prefer, if the choice is there, to work independently – but I certainly have no qualms about being a component that helps provide some “Dynamic, Multifaceted Team Synergy”.[That is my tongue-in-cheek way of saying I am also quite ready/willing/able/proven to be a team-player] In the interests of full disclosure – I do have some aspects of my character that some companies, I’ve come to understand, may not appreciate- I am not a fan of meetings… for the sake of having a meeting (if you know what I mean)- I tend towards using humor (or, at least what strikes *me* as humorous) when possible… even when knee-deep in project business: If you prefer your projects to be populated by stone-faced, deadly serious, take-themselves-way-too-seriously-at-all-times types… you likely don’t want me on said projects… despite how awesome I am.[If the first thing you thought after reading that last part is something like: “Wow – ego much?” - instead of a chuckle, you likely fall into the category to which I make reference] Ok, well – summary complete, I guess.
