About Mike Cobb

Since starting at DriveSavers in 1994 I've been surrounded by talented engineers and data recovery specialists at DriveSavers, the world’s largest dedicated data recovery company. Since 2010 I've been lucky enough to provide leadership in engineering where we build advanced tools and techniques to solve complex data loss challenges at scale. While our beginnings of data recovery data loss scenarios were single devices our teams have evolved to include solutions for virtualized systems (VMware, Hyper-V), encrypted devices, SAN/NAS arrays, firmware-damaged drives, and ransomware-encrypted volumes. Our goal is to recover data from any media, OS, or failure type—safely, securely, and fast. Since 1985, DriveSavers has been trusted by Fortune 500s, hospitals, law enforcement, storage vendors, and consumers around the globe. Our engineering team works in a certified ISO Class 5 Cleanroom and follows strict chain-of-custody and security protocols, including SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA/GLBA compliance. I drive innovation by mentoring engineers, leading custom development efforts, and adapting our approach as storage tech evolves. Whether it's a ransomware attack on a 60-drive SAN a single corrupted virtual machine or individual devices such as SSDs, embedded storage, HDDs (with or without helium), iPhones, Androids or a host of other smart devices, I ensure our team delivers the technical expertise and care our customers depend on.
