Here at Fair-Rite I have been tasked with the production of new tools and dies including repair of existing tool designs and redesigning of troublesome tools. This includes the use of all toolroom equipment such as Mills, Lathes, Surface Grinders, Blanchard Grinder, Cylindrical Grinders, Heat Treating ovens, Honing Machines as well as Vision measuring systems such as OGP and Keyence and programming of/and operation of our Mitutoyo CMM. Other skills involve silver soldering, welding mig, tig, and arc, use of sheet metal fabrication tools such as brake, sheer, rolling and notching, PLC programming with ladder logic. I have also rebuilt and improved our compaction machinery as well as developing trouble shooting processes. In doing so I have made numerous specialty tools to make those rebuilds more successful by precision align honing main bearings, crankshaft grinding, precise rebuild of die sets, indicating tools, reinforcing weak or failing parts of the machinery and cam regrinding. Since we have started our prototype department I become proficient the use of Solidworks for engineering as well as MasterCam 3, 4 and 5 axis for the manufacturing of prototype parts with various types of CNC maching centers both horizontal and vertical such as Haas, DMG, Baron, Tormach and DMG Mori Seiki. I was also invovled in the new shop efficiency floorplan layout, vacuum system install, RO water systems install, sonic tank systems and magnetic waste slurry removal systems.
