About Mike Donovan

Learn. Lead. Connect. Create. Communicate. Teaching myself to code and tinker on an Apple IIE back in the 80’s opened me up to a new realm of limitless conceptual horizons. So started a lifelong fascination with technology. Since the early this has guided me towards cultivating a deep understanding of software, systems and architectures. Databases and data related technologies have been dominant strands in my career. Interest in Oracle lead me to involvement with the user group community, and the opportunity to speak at many related tech conferences over the years, including Oracle OpenWorld San Francisco. In 2017 I was appointed an Oracle ACE (community advocate), one of a select group recognised for their technical expertise, insight and experience. Having worked with Dbvisit for more than a decade it has been my privilege to have journeyed with this company from New Zealand startup, to established international organisation. I have enjoyed different roles and functions, including: • Developing support processes and systems and leading the global team • Coding websites, generating content, and tracking related metrics • Creating videos, running webinars and leading pre-sales efforts • Functioning as evangelist and spokesperson In recent years I have spearheaded new technology initiatives, and journeyed into product management/ownership roles, rolling out MVPs in a loosely Agile context. I have enjoyed contributing strategically as part of Dbvisit’s executive team, and pioneering new technology opportunities as its CTO. This has included brokering and nurturing relationships with high profile Silicon Valley companies such as Confluent and Snowflake. I take pride in the careful crafting and delivery of communications, both internally and externally, and am a regular contributor to the Dbvisit blog. Energised by new goals and challenges I am an enthusiast by nature, on the lookout for new ideas and concepts that will light me up, and launch me out.
