About Mike Duell

I’m from a technical background, specialising in mechanical engineering, and I’ve worked on the development and roll-out of capital projects across a range of industries around the world. I understand first-hand what it takes to deliver successful capital project outcomes.I had a transformative career moment when I helped a client use technology to communicate complex capital project processes to people across their organisation. I realised there was very little support for capital project management in the form of apps, software and other technology-based solutions. This moment was the genesis of CAPEXinsights - a user-friendly software application that delivers better outcomes for your capital projects and portfolios. From there, I created a range of bespoke software solutions for various clients, focusing on solving pain points in capital project portfolio processes. Each solution incorporated people, processes and technology; all critical to driving organisational change. Each solution was also a ‘study’ into what would become CAPEXinsights. All of these solutions were delivered in full by Beca, which is powered by 100 years of experience and knowledge in digital and engineering. We launched CAPEXinsights as a complete product in 2016 and this is now my sole focus and passion.Throughout this experience, my family continues to motivate and inspire me to create and achieve great things, and for this, I’m eternally grateful. I enjoy camping, reading and cooking pizza in our woodfired oven for family and friends. I’m still not sure if I enjoy practicing French (I’m not very good at it), but I’m determined to one day hold my own in a brasserie!
