About Mike Escalante

Hello! My name is Mike Escalante and in May 2013, I earned a B.S. Physical Education degree from Springfield College, which is considered to have one of the best Physical Education programs in the country. At Springfield, I not only received a tremendous education, but played football as well. I fully embraced Springfield’s philosophy of strengthening and nurturing the mind, body, and spirit, which I carry with me to this day. In September 2014, I was hired as a Physical Education/Health Teacher at Glen Rock Middle School in Glen Rock, NJ. I quickly thrived in the role instilling a love for physical activity and a healthy lifestyle to all students. I also began coaching in 2014 as an assistant for both the football and boys lacrosse teams. By September 2015 there was an opportunity to move up to Glen Rock High School (Selected as Blue Ribbon School in 2018) as a Physical Education/Health Teacher which I accepted. Along with this, I accepted the position of Head Boys Lacrosse Coach for Glen Rock High School in 2015. While being a full-time teacher, assistant football coach, winter athletic site manager, head boys lacrosse coach and now the Anti-Bullying Specialist at GRHS I was still able to attain my master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton and achieve a 4.0 GPA. I feel over the past 5 years at the Glen Rock Public School District I have greatly prepared myself to become an administrator. I have countless experiences working with students, parents, teachers, coaches, and administrators at Glen Rock and feel that I have succeeded as an educational leader in this Blue Ribbon district. As of October 2023 I have moved from Assistant Principal of Glen Rock Middle School to Principal of High Mountain Middle School in North Haledon. I am incredibly honored and humbled to have this opportunity.
