Artist, curator, academic and cultural producer. Dean, Limerick School of Art and Design / Director of Cultural Engagement, Technological University Shannon. LSAD is a leading Irish Art School with a national and International reputation for excellence. Board Director of Irish Museum of Modern Art, Chair Visual Artists Ireland, Board Director Forge Design Factory, Former Chair of EVA International, Ireland's Biennial of Contemporary Art. In 2014 was Director of Ireland's first National City of Culture, a transformative project for Limerick. Led Limerick's Bid for European Capital of Culture 2020. Irish Commissioner for the Venice Biennale on two occasions, in 2007 with the artist Gerard Byrne and in 2015, with Curator Woodrow Kernohan and artist Sean Lynch. As a Director/Curator of Limerick City Gallery of Art and Visual Art Curator with the Kilkenny Arts Festival curated over 80 exhibitions including artists such as Simon Starling, Vito Acconci, Caroline McCarthy, John Shinnors, Tina O’Connell, Lindsay Seers and Vivienne Dick. Education, exhibitions and residencies include the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program, New York, PS1 Museum New York, Art in General, NY, IMMA, Museum of Modern Art, BIAD, Birmingham City University, University of Liverpool, Academia di Brera, Milan and Limerick School of Art and Design. A Clare man with a passionate interest in the game of Hurling.
