About Mike Grant

I have more than 20 years of experience in horticultural publishing, particularly in content planning, commissioning, subediting, picture choice and marketing for magazines and books. In all my work I am committed to making written material inspiring, readable, accessible and technically accurate. I am currently a part-time editor across a range of specialist books and two magazines, The Plant Review and The Orchid Review. Prior to that I was editor of The Plantsman (now The Plant Review) for 13 years, while also overseeing The Orchid Review and specialist book publishing. I have edited books such as Wildlife of a Garden, Flora of Cambridgeshire and monographs on Colchicum, Hedera, Kniphofia, Lathyrus and Wisteria. Prior to working in publishing I was a botanist at RHS Garden Wisley, specialising in plant identification and horticultural taxonomy. I was also an editor of the annual RHS Plant Finder. I have written numerous gardening articles and news stories and made major contributions to the best-selling RHS encyclopedias and the European Garden Flora. I am available for freelance work for two days a week.
