About Mike Hatting

I advise clients on commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, project development, joint venture financing, formation of real estate investment funds, property management and leasing. I also help corporate clients organize and structure business entities. I represent a number of large commercial real estate lenders. I've closed acquisition and construction loans secured by all real property product types. My most recent deals have focused on affordable housing tax credit financed projects and senior living facilities. I previously served as the executive vice president and general counsel to a Twin Cities-based real estate development company where I helped form and manage a real estate investment fund focused on turning around distressed properties. I have a particular interest in financing projects with incentives such as tax credits and tax increment financing. I have strong experience identifying and securing state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credits to preserve and redevelop historic properties. I have been counsel to developers and lenders who utilize New Markets Tax Credits and Renewable Energy Investment Tax Credits. Growing up in St. Paul, I always enjoyed building projects and today I leverage my skills in helping developers and lenders create spaces that make our community a better place to live.
