About Mike Larocque

I am a recent graduate from the University of Calgary's education program who is currently working as a secondary physical education and sports performance substitute teacher for the Calgary Board of Education. I have a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and a Masters of Professional Kinesiology and have spent the past ten years as a personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach. My career as a strength & conditioning coach has been focused on helping youth athletes achieve their goals through mentorship and exercise programming. Throughout my career I've worked with all levels of sport including youth, provincial/national, varsity, and Olympic. I've worked with athletes in sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, ice hockey, soccer, track & field, jiu-jitsu, and freestyle/mogul skiing. My mission is to bring this level of high performance service to Canada's youth through public education and my vision is to increase accessibility and promote equity for high performance services in youth athletics. Additionally, I believe that all students can greatly benefit from the incorporation of foundational exercise and resistance training principles into physical education and that all students should have access to high quality strength and conditioning experiences in school. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with students and other educators and happy to connect with anyone who is interesting in learning about how they can integrate quality health and fitness instruction into their classroom!
