About Mike Linneman

I've built my career on building relationships; with my peers, partnering with other organizations, and especially with my customers. They know me as someone who listens to their needs and knows how to get the job done. A short story as an example: My first assignment at Williams was to work with a district office that IT had a particularly bad reputation with. They made me miserable the first two times I visited the office on assignment. The third visit I sat down with the district manager and asked him what the problem was with their office and IT. His response was you don't communicate your plans with us or even include us in the planning. You come out to our office and change everything we work with. You don't ask for any input on how things could be done better. So I repeated back what I heard and asked him if I helped set up user groups that sought and acted upon suggestions from field offices, communicated our future plans and sought input on how to implement them and then sat down with the office staff and management when we came out to give clarification, and provided names of those who could override my instructions if needed, would that make things better? He said yes that would be great. We did all those things and more. One year later when that district manager retired he paid for me to fly out to his retirement party and presented me with a very nice jacket from their office.
