About Mike Lorimer

Since childhood, apprenticing to my father, I have been actively involved in the building industry, with an emphasis on custom homes, historical renovations, additions large and small, remodeling projects from refacing an existing fireplace to revisualizing a front elevation, design services (conceptual planning, space planning, interior design, built in and trim details etc) and auxiliary structures such as carriage or pool houses. My interest has long been in European design and focus on functional, beautifully detailed spaces that are designed on a human scale. As a company, we pride ourselves on our relationships with our customers - for each project, we take into consideration timelines, budgets and taste, and we endeavor, at every stage of our relationship, to be transparent in our communications. We start and end each undertaking with a handshake - we constantly strive for authentic relationships with our clients, and our successes are defined by the end satisfaction of all parties. In recent years, in addition to my building activites, I have acquired a tree farm in Clarkston, MI - in the last two years, I have begun remodeling the existing farm house and made some changes to the barn on the property. The tree farm has around evergreen trees, including White Pine, Scotch Pine, White Spruce, Norway Spruce and Canaan Fir. This new venture has enabled me to involve my sons in assisting with various aspects of running the farm, including helping and overseeing planting new trees, maintaining the farm buildings and machinery and of course, the weekend operation of the Christmas tree side of the business. The growth and supply of evergreen trees is a natural complement to Lorimer Building Co. and my years of interest in landscape design and implementation. I am fully committed to both my businesses and continue to learn and evolve as both industries change and grow.
