About Mike Obeirne

My name is Michael O’Beirne. I am an Associate Director of Campus Safety at Trine University. I was born in California but have spent most of my life in Angola, Indiana. I am a graduate of Angola High School and am an inductee into the Angola High School Athletic Hall of Fame. I am a graduate of Tri State University, the predecessor of Trine University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. I joined the Campus Safety Office in June of 2012. I am a certified Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) instructor in both Men’s and Women’s basic disciplines. I am also a certified International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) patrol officer. Through the Campus Safety Office I have been afforded the opportunity to attend many seminars, webinars and certifications that have increased my knowledge and awareness of how to not only make Trine University a safer place but to also make the overall college experience for students, faculty and staff more enjoyable. There are two things that give me great satisfaction as an employee of Trine University. The first is when at Commencement a graduate who knows me by my first name wants to have their picture taken with me and their families. The second is when that graduate stops into the Campus Safety Office to visit with me whenever they are in the area. It truly is a “Trine Thing”!
