About Mike Ostrom

After year's of working in the sport industry with organizations such as The Canada Games Council, Little League Baseball Canada, The Canadian Adult Recreation Hockey Association and The Minto Arena, I have transitioned my skills to the City of Ottawa in the Planning, Real Estate and Economic Development Department. As part of the Business and Technical Support Services team, I use my project management, leadership, and strategic thinking skills to help further projects that come through our shop. Managing an event for 100 hockey teams and running a municipal project may seem different to the naked eye, but in the back end it is all the same project management skills that lead to the success of the project. My joy is bringing together teams of individual specialists to work towards the same goal, and to embrace the different ideas that flow into a structured plan that can succeed. I enjoy the personal side of business while also embrace structure and organization. Being able to complete a project while learning something new, gaining a new connection, but also being proud in the outcome and how we got there is what makes me happy at the end of the day.
