A dynamic, results-driven, and commercially focused executive with global experience in business development, commercial innovation, strategy, and technical leadership within the food and nutritional ingredients sector in Asia, Europe, and the US. Equipped with 20+ years of involvement in developing and commercializing science for food, health, and nutrition ingredients, including creating 12+ patented technologies that have been licensed in the global marketplace. Led technical developments from concept to commercialization, including CAPEX projects and the relocation of a pre-gel starch processing facility from the USA to Thailand. Isolated industrial enzymes, an antiviral compound for HSV-1 treatment, a novel wheat protein isolate, a series of modified food starches based on tapioca and corn, co-designed the first EPA-DHA omega oil encapsulated in a starch-casein-lactose matrix for infant formula in conjunction with CSIRO. Improved FMCG processes with a commercial-scale ingredient and encapsulation technology. Contributed to top-line growth and profitability, including business expansion in SEA through trade and media promotions, client presentations, partnerships, and product trials. Led regional and cross-cultural teams of up to 90 people with 6-10 direct reports across Asia. Conducted due diligence when acquiring 3 companies in APAC. Worked with Australian and Singapore government bodies as an expert in food sustainability, food security, synthetic biology, and nanotechnology areas. Managed multi-million-dollar budgets and CAPEX expenditure for manufacturing facilities within the food and ingredient industries, notably raising millions in government funding for international clients to conduct user-paid and applied research in Australia.
