About Mike Pollard

Mike Pollard has over 35 years of extensive experience within management, drilling, completion and well intervention operations, and drilling technology from oil companies and service contractors. He has experience from international operations, from the Middle East, Africa, North America, UK and mainland Europe in addition to Norway. He has worked on semi submersible, jack-up, tender, fixed platform, tension leg platform and land rigs. From his background initially in the oilfield service industry, and later within operator organisations he has an outstanding technical overview of drilling operations and drilling technology, with detailed technical background in several areas, including special competence within HPHT drilling, horizontal and extended reach drilling, directional surveying, and MWD/LWD. He also has special competence in the development of management systems for the Norwegian oilfield environment through working in smaller, new-entry oil companies. He has held positions of senior drilling engineer, senior drilling supervisor, drilling superintendent, drilling manager, and HSEQ manager. HSE considerations within planning and execution of rig operations has been a natural focus, and has resulted in good HSE results in a more and more demanding environment. His technical and HSE experience has given him special competence in incident investigations. Experienced in transfer of operatorship in the demanding Norwegian environment. He is an external examiner at the University in Stavanger (UiS) in the petroleum faculty and has been an instructor for IWCF well control certification courses. He has also been used as an expert witness in court cases. Mike Pollard is a good communicator and team worker, both as team leader and team member and is a good motivator, with qualities required for setting and achieving goals with a multi-disciplinary team. He is flexible, conscientious, and good humoured.
