Background
About Mike Schwab
In January 2020, I returned to the field of education as President of Edison High School, a private school in Portland, Oregon serving students with learning differences and disabilities. I joined the organization from LifeWorks NW, a leading provider in mental health, addiction, and prevention services where I served as Director of Development for five years. I enjoy volunteering in the community and have served as a member of the Hydrocephalus Association Board of Directors, the Grotto Board of Directors, and the Providence Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. I remain involved with the St. John Fisher Parish Finance Committee. I also spend time volunteering as a head baseball coach in Raleigh Hills Little League. My favorite activity though is spending time with my wife, three kids, and labradoodle. About Edison High School: Edison High School was founded in 1973 as the Tree of Learning and served 22 students. For many years, students were taught in portable classrooms on the Jesuit High School campus. In 1992, they moved into their own building, on the Jesuit campus, and changed the school's name to Thomas A. Edison High School in honor of the famed American inventor who had a learning difference. In 2014, the school's name was streamlined to Edison High School. Today, Edison serves 100 students. Some of the learning differences students have include dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, Nonverbal Learning Disorders, and/or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. The mission of Edison is to empower students with learning differences to experience academic success and personal growth while preparing them for a productive future.
