Background
About Mike Stephenson
My education is in engineering, having received an MS in Chemical Engineering. I've been doing software development since my college days starting with Fortran in college and graduate school. I became a serious developer in the '90s by learning the C programming language, followed by C++, then Delphi (Object Pascal). In 2001, I looked at.NET as it was supposed to be the way of the future, which turned out to be true, so I decided I would initially learn one.NET language, either VB.net or C#. I decided to go with C#. This was fortuitous as C# eventually became the.NET language of choice. I worked as an engineer at Solar Turbines until I culminated my career at Solar as Manager of Recuperator Engineering (heat exchangers). I left and I started my own business Solverware where I provide engineering consulting and create software for business clients. I have done contracts during this time, including Caterpillar, Solar Turbines, SAP, Callaway Golf, V-MODA/Roland, Smartish, Williams International.I've been using.NET for over 20 years now and my skillset includes ASP.NET webforms.NET MVC.NET Core, SQL Server, and a number of other Microsoft technologies (WinForms, SignalR to name a few).I've done a lot of integration work of different technologies. For example, I wrote a WinForms app to create invoices in Quickbooks from a.NET shopping cart (AspDotNetStorefront). The client was using the shopping cart for commercial and public orders and needed only the commercial orders to be invoiced.I also integrated a number of "coupon programs" using different shopping carts: 1) AspDotNetStorefront, 2) BigCommerce and 3) Shopify using their APIs. This also integrated into a MS-SQL database.I integrated a 3D printing company and Shopify using their APIs to push orders of 3D printed components that were drop-shipped to the customers.I did an Amazon Marketplace Fulfillment by Amazon integration with Shopify and a third-party logistics company (warehousing) which involved over a dozen steps that had been done manually. The process eliminated all manual labor and resulted in a single step of creating a single spreadsheet with line items which was uploaded to the.net MVC website created for this purpose.I created a heat exchanger design application, originally in the era, written in Delphi for a DOW 30 client. The application was recreated with new functionality as a web application in.NET core. While this work was completed back in 2022, I am currently doing additional work to add new functionality.
