About Mike Thomas

Even though I was a pre-med major at the University of Tulsa and obtained my Bachelor's degree in biology, my passion evolved into serving people who are homeless with a serious mental illness. Perhaps this passion has origins from the fact that my brother suffered from schizophrenia, being initially diagnosed in the 70's when services were scarce and questionable and stigma was rampant. He later died at the age of 38 from the co-occurring nature of his diagnosis. I have had the privilege to work for the Mental Health Association Oklahoma since the year Over those years serving people with mental illness, I have witnessed tremendous advancements in treatment and services especially for the indigent population. Helping people reconnect with society and security has been rewarding to me and for that, I am thankful.
