About Mike Thompson
Joined Shell in 1979 as a Laboratory Chemist working at the Stanlow Refinery in the Quality Control Laboratory. Spent 17 yrs in Downstream Laboratory Operations before moving to Shell Research in 1996 working on the development of Industrial Lubricants. Was based at Shell Research before moving to Upstream Production Chemistry in Aberdeen, Scotland in During my time in Aberdeen moved into the role of Laboratory Manager in 2003 until 2008. In 2008 I was placed on loan from Shell to Petroleum Development Oman LLC as 'Head of Laboratory services" for a four year duration based in Muscat, Oman. I am a person keen to develop, conscientious, loyal, good team player, communicator and good interpersonal skills with nearly 34 yrs service in the Oil & Gas Industry in various roles. One of my main roles at present is as Shell's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Laboratory Design & HSE. Currently located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
