About Mike Vaught

Currently Flying as a Captain on the 737-400 Combi for the Department of Energy. Possess an active Q Clearance. I have thousands of hours of flight time, the vast majority of which is acting as Pilot in Command over a 40 year flying career. I spent 24 years with the USAF/USAFR, followed by 24 years at Southwest Airlines and am currently flying with the Department of energy. With the exception of the 737-900, have flown all other commercial variants of the Boeing 737 to include the 737 Max, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have flight experience in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Southwest Asia. I have a strong background in Crew Resource Management, Team Building, and Leadership skills in general. I have published articles on Leadership and Capability, have written several annual training plans, as well as specific lesson plans. Extensive experience as an in flight and ground instructor. Dedicated my life to honing aviation skills through continuing education and practical experience. I have served as a Federal Flight Deck Officer for over 13 years and am currently credentialed with the Department of Homeland Security. After graduating from the USAF Fighter Weapons Instructor Course, I served as a foreign exchange F-16 pilot with the RNLAF, where I became an instructor on the Dutch Weapons Instructor Course.
