About Mike Whitlatch

In 1996 I left my job as a centralized lending manager to pursue a career in a more challenging environment, oil and gas. I have found a great deal of satisfaction in the O&G industry as a team leader in daily operations, major project deliveries, and business development efforts in a global market. My unique career experience in the financial industry along with my technical experience in the O&G industry gives me a unique perspective in which I can understand, design, and organize, the technical delivery of projects while understanding and effectively managing to meet the commercial goals of the project and implications of decisions made during the delivery. As a Project Delivery Manager, my teams have successfully delivered the largest waste management projects in Alaska in the last 15 years, on time and on budget. As Operations Manager, I have successfully managed the personnel development, HSE performance, and operations support, while delivering some of our companies best bottom line numbers. As Global Business Development Manager, I supported local operations and sales teams on selling and presenting to major global clients as well as supporting them with project deliveries, re-structured training programs, and rollout of global knowledge sharing platforms such as YAMMER and Insight. As an engaged and active member of the global team, our business line earned over 50% of the global market share and and were of the highest performing business lines in the company, based on earnings %. Business Development Manager has proven to be a challenging title to have in the last couple years in the O&G industry and I felt blessed to make it as long as I did. I am grateful for the experience gained, lessons learned, and now the opportunity to find a new team where I can have the most impact and make use of my unique job experiences.
