About Mike Worner

Why FROG? Because it sums up the well-rounded offering I give to my business owner and CEO clients. I stumbled across the acronym when reviewing my previous corporate roles. I was usually hired as ‘the finance guy,’ but I didn’t fit that pigeonhole. I always offered much more, usually as a confidante or Mr Fixit across the business. That said, there’s always an ‘F’ in FROG because CFO is the backbone of my offering. However, making a more significant impact on the business is what lights me up. Here’s how it often plays out. Financial Insight - I’m brought in to work on a financial issue, which expands into analysing the wider business and identifying areas for improvement. Operations Optimisation - I add a lot of value by rolling my sleeves up in the operations side of the business. I have streamlined manufacturing, warehousing, and supply chains in dozens of companies. Risk Management - Creating a risk matrix for the business is critical to identifying upcoming challenges and gaining an advantage. Governance and Strategy - Setting up boards, internal governance, and ensuring the stakeholders are comfortable with the business's direction can distract a CEO from building the business, so this is where I step in. Yes, that reads as FORG. It’s in that order here because my clients typically place a greater emphasis on finance and operations. However, the great thing about my FROG is that you can dial up or down elements as you see fit. FROG might be my new business, but I’ve operated this way since I was seven, when I helped a family business prepare the staff’s wages (I stuffed envelopes with cash). In high school, I was involved with another family business, and my first career role was as an accountant. I helped with budgeting for the marketing and sales team rather than pure finance, which gave me yet another wide-lens view of finance and operations within a business. I've worked in many large organisations, which has given me an understanding of the discipline needed to run a successful business.
