About Mikey Shearer

My career began in theatre, but in response to the pandemic's impact on the industry, I chose to pivot and build a future in a field that allows me to leverage my creative, strategic, and communicative skills while developing new ones. In the theatre industry, I worked both as an ensemble member and as a show captain, leading from the front. These roles shaped me into an unflappable, solution-focused professional, honed through 15 years of successful self-employment. During the pandemic, I transitioned to a strategy role at Wunderman Thompson, one of the world's largest advertising agencies. Here, I honed my hard skills and demonstrated my adaptability in the face of unprecedented challenges. I worked on B2B and B2C campaigns for clients such as BT Global, Macallan whiskey, Hotpoint, and Libresse, contributing to their exponential growth. I bring over a decade of international experience, with a skill set that can only be acquired through living and working across nearly every continent. This exposure to diverse cultures has made me a strong advocate for inclusivity and diversity. During my short time at WeWork, I have made a significant impact on the business. I quickly became a standout performer, earning the Commitment Champion award at both national and global levels. My dedication and ability to drive community engagement and operational excellence led to my recent promotion to Community Lead. I have also been honoured to represent WeWork at key events, including speaking at the first in-person UKI Connect event at WeWork headquarters since the pandemic.
