About Mikkel Gabel

I love scaling companies and I love helping people realize just how badass they are I grew up in the suburbs of Copenhagen. I was an average student in high school. Graduated in 2013. Tried out one semester at University. I was definitely not ready for that at the age of 19. Applied for a bunch of jobs. Got rejected over and over. Then I applied for a job in JOE & THE JUICE. I ended up working there for 7 years. During this time I lived in 5 different countries, worked as Global Head of Learning and Development and played a critical role in scaling the company from 100 to 300 stores. At the time of the the pandemic I lived in San Francisco. I then moved back to Copenhagen - completely discouraged and in doubt about my future career so I started studying a bachelors degree in economic and communication. I was definitely more ready for that at the age of 27. Tried out big corp. Realized that I missed the entrepreneurial energy and I missed growing a company. By coincidence I saw a job ad for a Recruitment Consultant position in Dawn Health. I applied and I got the job. I'm currently working as Talent Acquisition Manager and I head up a department where I'm in-charge for recruitment and learning and development In 2022 I hired 90 people in 8 months with my great colleagues. We scaled the company from 40 to 130. I personally did 500 job interviews, developed and implemented state of the art recruitment structures to prepare the company for the future where we will scale the company even more! I also went on stage to speak for the first time at the HRTech conference in Copenhagen. What an experience! My job is simple: I find, attract and hire the future badasses of the Medtech industry. My favorite movie is Moneyball and my goal is to do exactly what Billy Beane did in Oakland Athletics: change the perception of what talent is and then disrupt the Life science industry! I'm skilled in recruiting all kinds of software engineers from backend, frontend, android, iOS, and flutter. I'm also experienced in recruiting RA/QA professionals for the life science industry (with ISO 13485 and ISO 14971 experience) as well as UX/UI designers. My biggest goal is to make a positive difference in other peoples lives. I try to do that by always being positive and encouraging (my colleagues call me Mr. Feelgood). In the future I would like to combine my HR work with coaching leaders and business owners in how to scale their companies with amazing people, and how to build a unique company culture.
