About Miles Smith

Miles Smith is an aspiring architectural designer, currently continuing studies at Syracuse University. Before seeking college education, during high school, they were a part of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), attending competitions at a district and state level for marketing. They were also a member of History Club during their Junior and Senior years. They graduated not only with Cum Laude honors but were proudly inducted into their school's National Technical Honors Society for excelling in courses that focused on technical skills. Their tenure into college academia was acquiring their Bachelor in the Arts in Architecture at the University of Kentucky. There, many skills were acquired during their 3.5 years in the undergraduate architecture program, predominantly Adobe Suite software and Rhinoceros. They were also an active member of the school's AIAS (American Institute of Architecture Students) as well as representing the College of Design as a student representative and a Resident Advisor for the university. Smith was acknowledged during their 3rd year in the program in the College of Design at UK, being part of the Dean's List for the Fall 2021 semester and being a part of the student work publication on Dezeen for the 2021/2022 school year. After graduating with their B.A in Architecture in December 2022, they entered into the profession working for Mason & Hanger. Working for a firm with a very small scope in architecture, Smith was able to learn many new things about how the profession works on a day-to-day basis. Currently, Smith is a 3rd year Graduate Student Candidate at Syracuse University. They are proudly a part of the GSA (Graduate Students of Architecture) as a Representative for the Graduate Students Organization. During their tenure, they worked closely on humanitarian work with Professor Yutaka Sho and has held multiple teaching assistant roles for undergraduate classes. During July 2024 and September 2024, they helped partake in BuildFest with Professors Jordan Young & Cait McCarthy, helping with the construction of their exhibition.
