Recent reporting took me from Kenya to South Africa where I covered landgrabbing, refugee transitions, life in urban communities, and children affected by AIDS. For this reporting I received the National Mark of Excellence Award for Feature Writing from the Society of Professional Journalists. My passion for storytelling inspired me as I documented client stories for Habitat for Humanity, toured and spoke on behalf of those helped by World Vision's Hope Project in Sub Saharan Africa, and as I reported on refugee transitions in Tennessee. My experience and education in international development and journalism gives a unique perspective as both an expert voice on human rights and internationally developing communities and an experienced witness ready to creatively document the communities and characters I encounter.
