About Mimi Duong

I love writing. I hate writing about myself. So, here’s six things about me and my work. In, out, nobody gets hurt. 1.) Communication doesn’t take place in a vacuum. That’s why I write, speak, and design across various mediums—I'm a personal fan of Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. 2.) I’m a multifaceted and mission-driven communicator and community developer with 4 years of undergraduate student leadership experience. I ran weekly meetings at my university’s Asian Student Union that promote multicultural understanding and nurture a sense of community. During the peak of the pandemic, Asian Student Union saw an increased membership of 40%. 3.) I’m a Vietnamese-American that was brought up in a small farm town that is 94.8% white. Fortunately, I was able to actualize this experience by fostering a passion for amplifying underrepresented voices—because there’s a difference between “you’re allowed to be in this space” vs. “we created this space with you in mind”. 4.) Need something written? I’ll write it—press releases, reports, proposals, blog posts, emails, letters, technical guides, articles, news releases, social media posts, minutes, and more! Tell me to jump and I’ll say, “how high?” 5.) For whatever reason, I have way too much fun writing emails. I self-developed my Asian Student Union’s brand identity by creating header and footer graphics for the weekly emails I send out. 6.) At the end of the day, my work involves engaging and informing people. I communicate to forward the services and/or mission of an organization I firmly believe in.
