Background
About Mimi Jett
An education-technology leader with more than 35 years of experience in collaborative innovation that crosses multiple industry sectors, markets and geographies. As a freshman at University of Oregon, started my first company, Oregon Serigraphics. After leaving U of O, worked as a print-shop manager before starting a second enterprise, The Renaissance Press, which was sold to an employee after steady growth over seven years. Purchased the assets of a failed company in 1987 and launched Electronic Technical Publishing Services, leading delivery of advanced technology solutions to higher education publishers in math & engineering. ETP grew over the 11 years that I led the company, acquired and integrated Harrison Typesetting, and ultimately sold to a friendly competitor. Transitioning from decades of entrepreneurial leadership to one of the best companies in the world, joined IBM Research as a product evangelist for web-based technologies that would revolutionize technical publishing and interactive eLearning content, and was appointed to the elite Institute for Advanced Learning at IBM. My record of success also includes several years with Renaissance Learning, first as General Manager of the subsidiary Renaissance Corporate Services, then as Vice President Business Development. As General Manager of netTrekker,(now Knovation) a leading provider in the organization and delivery of digital K-12 educational content and tools, oversaw all customer-facing departments, led the development of new products and services, and beat sales/growth projections. Elected delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business and Technology Advisory Committee Chair for the U.S. Small Business Administration. Software & Information Industry Association’s Education Division Board of Directors, in 2013 as co-chair, and also as co-chair of the Global Strategies working group. Studied Art Education at the University of Oregon and Communications at Marylhurst University.
