About Min Ding

Min Ding is a Chinese American filmmaker, educator, and storyteller whose work explores the emotional landscapes of migration, identity, and belonging. Born and raised in Guangzhou, China, she moved to New York City with her mother as a teenager—a shift that continues to shape her creative voice. She earned her M.F.A. in Film Directing from Columbia University in 2013, where she was awarded the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s Production Grant. Min’s narrative short films have screened and won awards at international festivals. Three Light Bulbs premiered at the Busan International Film Festival; Rattlefly debuted at the Vancouver International Film Festival and won Best Short at Cinequest. For over a decade, she has worked as a writer, director, and producer in New York’s independent film scene. Her recent film, The Other Moon Goddess, was supported by ArtsWestchester and the Sundance Institute, where filmmaking became not just a mode of storytelling but a way to spark dialogue and connection. As an artist fellow with the Museum of Chinese in America, she continues to explore how stories can bridge generations and cultures.
