About Mindy Widell

My name is Mindy Widell and I am interested in finding a job to use my skills in GIS and learning other computer programs professionally. I majored in geography with a two year geographic information system certificate and a minor in geology. I have used Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint extensively while attaining my degree at EWU. I am able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. I am currently working for the Okanogan Conservation District in a contract position as a Natural Resource Technician. I am currently working to help land owners that were impacted by the 2014 Carlton Complex fire. Some of the work I am currently doing is using ArcGIS to help make maps of damaged cattle and deer fences that need to be rebuilt. I have also helped with prioritizing and mapping areas within the Carlton Complex burn area that could benefit most from helicopter aerial seeding to stabilize slopes. I have also done an internship with the Department of Ecology in Spokane. Some of the work I did was geo-referencing historical aerial photos, updating NHD data sets, and digitizing public land survey quarter delineations. I also volunteered for Dr. Linda McCollum last summer at EWU in the geology department in her private Missoula flood research. I used GIS to update soil deposit maps using topology and advance editing tools. Moreover, I am dependable, organized, and good with time management. I am punctual, I manage projects effectively, and I am able to meet deadlines. I have the ability to affectively work as a team as well as independently. I have an interest in learning and furthering my skills in GIS.
