About Ming Bai
I am an all-around transport modeller and researcher in the intersection between Transportation, City, Energy and Human mobility. Prior to coming to NZ, I had been working in Ministry of Science and Technology of China for many years, mainly on transport related technology strategy development. Since I came to New Zealand, I have been devoted myself into the study on alternative transport energy system for future sustainable development. My research aims to reduce transportation dependence on fossil fuel by changing existing anthropological activity systems(e.g. EVs development, Autonomous Vehicle, V2G, Mode shift from car driving to bike, E-bike, Mass transit; land use redevelopment for car-lite society; Policy making or regulation on car use restriction). I am adept in Automotive technology, Electric vehicle development strategy, EVs integration with Power Grid, Urban transport planning and modelling, Programming(Python, Java), Freight and supply chain optimization, GIS-based analysis etc. As a transport modeler, I am proficient in variety of Simulation software packages such as: Aimsun, SIDRA, Vissim, EMME, Anylogic etc.
